The 2012 Parade Route |
• The Parade route is different than it was in 2010. This year the parade begins at the foot of Market street (near the ferry building), whereas the 2010 parade began at Montgomery and Washington.
• Buy your ROUND TRIP BART tix now! Get them for a few $$ extra, in case you need to go extra stops. The parade route is long, not everyone needs to be at the beginning.
• Arrive early. There will be hundreds of thousands of people.
• Don’t bring chairs. Unless you are camping out, to get a spot in the very front, forget about finding a place to put a chair.
• Dress in layers. The weather will change drastically throughout the morning and afternoon. The chance of rain is only 20%.
• Wear comfortable shoes.
• Do NOT bring everything you want to bring. It will be insanely crowded and you will have a hard time carrying everything and trying to maneuver the crowd.
• Cell Service is spotty at best:
• Bring a map of downtown, your GPS may not work.
• Plan a meeting place & a back up meeting place. Then a meeting place for afterwards, in case you are separated. Plan your meeting places to be at least 2 blocks North or South of the parade route.
• The parade route is like a mosh pit:
• When trying to go East or West along the parade route, go 2 blocks South of Market to walk with smaller crowds and walk back up to Market.
• Leave small children at home.
• Bring water & snacks (everything is closed or slammed).
Cheers!
